As we inch closer to Christmas break here at Stafford, staff are showing their Christmas spirit in multiple ways. From the Military Student Connect Club’s Toys-for-Tots to the Health Occupant Students of America’s food drive, and even adorable Christmas inflatables posing all around the school, Stafford High is holly jolly for the holiday season.
Stafford teachers are also embracing the holiday spirit by decorating their classroom doors. Their doors have been decorated just like their doors at home, but with more artistic skill and crafting.
Throughout the week, teachers have been decorating their doors with the help of students. Brenda Abel, an administrative assistant said “It gets me in the holiday spirit. I went to the store to buy supplies and always get carried away with buying Christmas decor.”
Using bright colors and construction paper, teachers are using themes from Christmas related media. When walking around the halls of SHS, you can see the holiday characters from beloved Christmas movies greeting students everywhere.
Even the counselor’s office turned into a Winter wonderland, with decorations facing inside and out. “We decided to do the inside and the outside, almost like you’re stepping into a gingerbread house.” said Cameron Ferranto, a counselor at Stafford.

The door decoration competition is part of the “12 Days of Christmas Celebration”, where every day staff celebrate by receiving food or participating in other holiday activities. Staff also gets to dress out for spirit week, with themes like ‘Twinkle Toes’ and ‘Grinch it Up’. On day eight of the 12 days, staff received Chick-fil-a for lunch.
Staff had to sign up in order to compete in the competition, which was simply stating their door number, who decorated their door, and what their theme was.
Beverly Lemmons, the Career Advisor for juniors and seniors at SHS said “I thought it would be fun to represent lots of different colleges and I have diplomas on the top because that’s something students work towards.”
There are four categories the possible winners can fall under: most festive, most creative, best theme, and of course, overall winner. Despite this, Jennifer Russ, the office manager for Mrs. Tyron, hints that there could be a runner up.
Stafford’s Principal, Chelsea Tryon, and a special guest from the central office will be judging and selecting the winner of the contest. It will take place on the 18th, the second to last day of school before winter break.
Staff members at Stafford know how to make the perfect festive environment for students, whether it’s from the whimsical Christmas inflatables to the adorable door decor. Even though most staff members are eager for the Christmas break, it’s still heartwarming to see them put effort into making the student’s day at school a bit more enjoyable and filled with the Christmas spirit.
Do you have a teacher who could be interested in the competition? There is still a week left to decorate and with the help of you and other students, your teacher can have a jolly decorated door and be a contender for winning.
