Sleep is the thing that most high school students complain about. High school students have a lot on their plate such as sports or jobs, and they don’t have time to sleep, so they get sleep deprived.
Scientists say that to fight sleep deprivation is to get a good night’s sleep, but that’s the thing. How do students get a good night’s sleep if they stay up all night on their phones?
Here is a list of tips that I have used to get a good night’s sleep:

Try aromatherapy. Studies suggest that aromatherapy may help improve sleep quality, reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Several essential oils including lavender, rose, sandalwood and others have shown to relieve anxiety, stress, and depression.

Using a white noise machine. White noise machines have shown to promote relaxation and reduce stress levels. Studies have shown that consistent sound produced by these machines help to create a peaceful environment during sleep.

Keep any electronics far away to not cause distractions. Limiting electronics used before bedtime can improve sleep.Using devices before bed can delay the time for when you actually go to sleep. Technology affects the brain, stimulating the mind and making it harder for us to sleep.

Practice meditation, yoga and mindfulness. Research says that yoga may positively affect the quality, efficiency and the duration of our sleep. Gentle yoga or progressive muscle relaxation can ease tension and help thigh muscles to relax.

Sleeping in a dark room can help fall asleep faster. Pitch darkness reduces potential distractions and disruption to sleep. Sleep researches have shown that even a small amount of light can harm cardiovascular function while sleeping and increase insulin during the day.
Since people experience different stages of sleep deprivation, people can try these tips and find what works best for them.
