The first boy was a post-covid sweetheart.
We were both in CGS, and I guess he thought I was pretty
smart.
He told me he liked me over SnapChat.
But I didn’t feel the same, and that was that.
The second boy was a real artistic type.
He had me listen to his music deep into the night.
We went on one date to the pumpkin patch,
Where we decided we weren’t a match.
(Okay, maybe things moved too quickly,
But a week after Halloween he was dating Brittany.)
Soon it was time to find a Valentine,
And to my suprise, a senior asked if he could be mine.
Since we had literally not spoken once before then,
He left that conversation heart broken.
A full year passed until I was a sensation,
And I got a surprising call while at a funeral celebration.
He asked if I could be his girlfriend,
And much like Aunt Nancy, that thought was put to an end.
As a junior it was time for my first prom!
And my friend thought I had it going on.
In the band room, he sheepishly asked me out on a date.
I said yes, but later realized my mistake.
I didn’t write this poem to brag…
That would be a huge red flag.
I hate to keep bringing up my past,
But I want to find a love that will last.
I still have hope for the future,
And I’m not done looking for a suitor.
So, if what you want is what you see,
My number is 540-684-2203 🙂
