Starting October 1st, the boys soccer team will start their conditioning program working hard every chance they get to improve from a disappointing season last year. With new head coach Tyler Robinson, the team has many ideas on how to improve.
On August 26th, a meeting took place with people who were on the team last year and people who are interested in joining the team. The meeting explained how the offseason conditioning program will not be like last year.
“Last year for conditioning we ran for only 10 minutes and scrimmaged for the rest, it didn’t feel like we were getting better during our scrimmages and runs because most people were not going one hundred percent and just messing around with no punishment from our previous coach, ” said senior Luke Pecher.
During the meeting Coach Robinson and Coach Marvashti said many times how we will be the fittest team every game.
They explained for the first day of conditioning, the team will jog down to the track and run two miles. Every other day they’ll start off by running for at least 45 minutes, do drills, and if they have time depending on our performance they’ll either scrimmage or run some more. After the coaches explained that, the feeling of the room was mixed. “The amount of running might be tiring and boring compared to us just goofing around last year, but it will all help the team improve our speed and endurance,” said senior Aidan Good.
“Our team can only improve with this new method of conditioning by being faster and quicker than the other teams. We can have the edge up against other teams and maybe actually win some games this year,” said, Sophomore Jacob Pecher
Last season was definitely disappointing considering the year before the team finished third place in the district tournament and qualified for the regional tournament. No one likes losing and with Coach Robinson and his new style of conditioning soccer players and fans should all be very excited about the upcoming season.
