There are tons of restaurants in Downtown Fredericksburg. They offer everything from tacos and burgers to authentic Asian delicacies or fine French cuisine. The range in prices, atmosphere, service, and of course, the differing menus will surely attract anyone.
You may find yourself unable to decide where to feast at times, which usually ends up with your group wandering around aimlessly looking for what tonight craves. Once everyone is too tired of wait times, and walking around Downtown; you finally decide to eat at the next closest restaurant or settle for a place you all have been to a million times. More often than not, the place is sub par, if that, and you leave being dissatisfied and agitated.
Here’s a column to help alleviate the stress we all have of finding a restaurant to enjoy. This restaurant review is on Fahrenheit 132° located on William Street .
When you first walk in, you are greeted with soft lighting and smiling faces ready to greet you. Oftentimes Fahrenheit is packed with people dressed to the nines. The room is filled with conversations, but the ambience is all the same.
However, the booths and tables are close in proximity, which makes operating around the restaurant slightly difficult.
Price and affordability is the primary consideration with this particular restaurant. Fahrenheit is definitely one of the most expensive restaurants downtown. Although the menu does have high prices, you get your money’s worth. I spent approximately 125 dollars on two meals.
I ordered the truffle fries as an appetizer and the surf and turf platter with the pork chop and the salmon. My sides were the rosemary mashed potatoes and truffle mac ‘n cheese. The truffle fries were delicious and addictive. They were thin and crispy, and the saltiness mixed with the deep taste of truffle was a perfect mix. The pork chop was cooked exactly right and had a rich, savory flavor.
In contrast, the salmon was simply fine. It was rather dry, and I would have preferred the lemon to be more prominent, rather than merely subtle notes. The mashed potatoes were not particularly noteworthy, although they were quite good. In addition, the truffle was overbearing in the mac ‘n cheese. We ended the meal with the banana pudding, which was exquisite. The banana slices elevated the otherwise basic dessert.
The service was fantastic. The waiter and bussers stopped by to make sure we were all settled. Our waiter was very personable and made sure to clarify the menu, which he was clearly well versed in. He also asked about allergies and checked in to make sure we were enjoying everything.
Overall, Fahrenheit has a great meat selection, paired with a calm atmosphere. While it may be considered “overpriced”, the service is fantastic and you are guaranteed a nice, filling meal.
